I have been with Yahoo!Answers for some time now, and have finally made it to the Level 7 ranking. Was it easy? Absolutely! I just grabbed all of the questions that were going unanswered, then did the research to find the appropriate answers. Granted there are a lot of people who are there just trying to garner points by giving lame answers, and many that have nothing to do with the questions at hand. In order to do wo well, I became a "Top Contributor" for the Computer/Internet section. I have learned probably as much about stuff as those whom I have given answers to. Best yet, is that it has enabled me to develop my website with great content. When I have to do a deep search and do a lot of reading to find the right answer, it gives me the advantage of providing that same answer to those who have not asked the question, but simply stumbled on it while looking for other information they seek. Being a "Top Contributor" has also opened the door for others to directly ask me questions via email. Naturally I try to send everyone to my site, but if the information isn't there, I need to maintain a way for the question to still be asked. Because I am online more than I am off, I have added a "Live Chat Support" that I use on a regular basis. Between that and the email element, very few questions go unanswered.
Over 78% of all of the questions I have answered have been chosen "Best Answer" either by the voters or the askers. To me that is a proud label to have hanging over my head. It is also an incentive to keep giving only the best possible answers that I can give. You will not see me answer a question with a question either! If the question is not understandable to me, I will try to give relevant links to information I find, in regards to what I think the answer should be, as well as ask the person who posts it to please follow up with me directly if they are still at a loss. Most of the time it is in the way that a question is worded, that simply doesn't make sense.
